In the Zoom webinars, the speakers will share their journey in their field, their struggles as a Muslimah and how their values and beliefs have positively impacted them. Our STEM professionals have an expertise in the following: Data Science, Astrophysics, Neuroscience, Material Science, Positron Physics, Engineering and Physics Education.

#1: Astrophysics/Data Science: Dr Aycha Tammour

Dr Aycha Tammour is a Syrian-Canadian astrophysicist turned data scientist. She has received her PhD in Astronomy in 2016 from the University of Western Ontario, studying active galactic nuclei with a focus on quasars. Before this, she was a Fulbright student at Minnesota State University where she completed her MSc in Physics. She is very experienced in employing machine learning techniques in various domains such as time series analysis and natural language processing (NLP). Moreover, Dr Aycha has also had the opportunity to study with esteemed scholars studying topics including ‘Aqeeda, Fiqh and Usul. It is our privilege to have Dr Aycha Tammour as MWISU’s lead STEM advisor. Alhamdulillah.
