MWISU is a safe space and support network for Muslim women (Muslimahs) who have a faith-based interest in STEM. There is a lack of representation in this space as well as a lack of support for our community, therefore our vision is to bridge this gap through this initiative inshaAllah. We aim to do this by bringing Muslimah STEM professionals on a Zoom webinar to provide insights about personal and academic development through a purely Islamic lens. As practising Muslim women, we believe that it is pivotal for our intentions to be only for Allah. This is the mindset that Islamic scientists such as the likes of Ibn Al-Haytham had embodied which is what drove their interest in science and ultimately made them pioneers in their field. We wish to revive that motive in young Muslimahs who are interested in STEM so that they have the confidence to play their part and make an impact without compromising their Deen.
